Summary: Sam goes to hell so Dean doesn't have to, but there is no fucking way Dean Winchester is going to let the little shit brood in hell for all eternity, and leave him all by himself topside. He goes through hell (literally) to pull him out, with the aid of his dad, Bobby and his rugged good looks.
Sam is Eurydice or maybe Persephone (see? totally the girl) and Dean is Orpheus (except not a dick) or maybe Dante, or maybe he's just plain awesome.

I had the idea for this fic in my head for the longest time, but I couldn’t get around to putting it down on paper. I made adelate listen to all my ideas and whining about it, but I couldn't get my ass into gear until I realized I really needed to get this fic out of the way before season four, and that spn_j2_bigbang was just the swift kick in thr ass I needed to actually sit down and write it, and well. Here it is.

Thanks to gray_light who did such an amazing job on the art! She asked me if I had any ideas and I think I was very little help, but she made something that is so awesome, and somehow exactly what I wanted anyway. Now go tell her what an awesome job she did! :D

The title - Those who appear smaller from a distance – my Literary Theory professor was talking about The Order of Things and the Chinese Encyclopedia, and he gave a few examples and then continued with his own made up ones. ‘Those who appear smaller from a distance’ was one of them, and for some reason it’s just stuck with me.

L'amor che move il sole e l'altre stelle. The final line of The Divine Comedy. It means, The Love which moves the sun and the other stars. I wanted an epigraph and agonized over it, because I wanted it to be perfect. Of course, I just had to go back to the source.

Hi, I don't know if you know this or not but your paragraphs are too wide? it looks like you have two paragraph breaks between the paragraphs. :(

And your lines are 1.5 spaced??? the only reason I noticed that one is because I was merging your story into a single file and the formatting isn't working so well.

I'm just puzzled as to why all the paragraphs are spaced so far apart..even in the ?style=mine mode.

It's okay I was able to fix the formatting using my Word97, the best Office program that ever came out. It's just frustrating when I'm at work stuck with one of the newer office programs and I can't fix stories so they are readable.

Listen, I have formatted my story to my liking. I like the way it looks, and it's not my problem that you can't format it differently. I haven't used a weird font or white writing on a black background or anything - it's perfectly readable.

And quite honestly, I think it's a bit rude of you to comment on my story about the formatting.

my apologies, normally I let authors know when their formatting falls out of the norm so they can fix it.

Because the double wide paragraphs is kind of a turn off for some readers. Especially with so many stories getting posted, fics that have weird formatting issues are less likely to be read. I read a lot of stories and well if your story wasn't a bigbang fic I'd have hit the backbutton and never given it a chance.

Okay, well I think you can do it in a much more diplomatic way. For example, "Thank you for posting! Btw, personally, I think your formatting makes the story a bit hard to read."

Personally, I don't think my formatting needs fixing. I like space between my paragraphs so it's airy and easier on the eyes as opposed to, say, when some people post big chunks of text with no breaks at all.

I have received lovely feedback on my story so far, so if my formatting is causing you that much trouble, maybe you should just hit that back button and save us both the trouble.
