Happy birthday
simply_fly_away!!! May you have a lovely day with lovely people and presents and food. :D
This is pretty true. (except for the American Identity part) Non-Americans usually think I'm American, most Americans can't figure out where I 'come from' but think that I am American - if people can hear I'm not American, they usually think I'm Canadian. Of course, Canadians always laugh when I tell them this. Someone once called my accent the CNN accent.

What American accent do you have?

Neutral. Not Northern, Southern, or Western, just American. Your national American identity is more important to you than your local identity, because you don't really have a local identity to begin with.
Take this quiz now - it's easy!

Date: 2008-05-22 04:50 am (UTC)I got the same result as you, and I don't think we speak THAT much alike...and I didn't get Midwest, which is funny because I =SO= am. But I mimic ANY accent I'm exposed to for too long, so I suppose in the end that does sound "all over"? Hee.

Date: 2008-05-22 06:42 pm (UTC)It's funny, I don't really mimic American accents, but if I'm surrounded by Brit speakers for too long, my accent starts leaning, and I start using Britisisms. Which isn't too strange, considering I was taught British English for 8 years before I went to uni.
