hi LJ. ^_^ am home. spent last night at parents' and slept the first full night in over a week. vacation was indeed very lovely, and I'm the color of milk chocolate despite not actually having been sunbathing. there was a heatwave in Greece ( 38C in the shade, 56C in direct sun ) and I've been freezing since I stepped onto the plane and off in CPH airport and the 13C that met us outside.
usually mosquitoes go for my sister, which is really rather unfair as she is allergic - just before we left, she'd gotten a bite on her left thumb, and it was so swollen all the little creases on her thumb were gone. apparently, the Greek mozzies had a thing for me, and I've in 7 days gotten 339 bites. ( really, I'm not kidding. my sister did a thorough count last night. ) they itch like crazy and are ( well they are all over ) but they are also in all the really annoying places - the crease of my knee, under my toes, between my toes on my finges, the crease of my armpits, my ankles, a huge one on my ass that is always itching, of course, where my pants sit, and my bra.
I really hope the Danish mozzies can somehow smell that I've been a shameless hussy and whored myself out to the Greek ones and won't want to have anything to do with me.
I'm all unpacked, I had a lovely nap today, I have food in my fridge and I even organized all my shirts today AND! OMG, I totally forgot all about that!
I got my grade for that paper. you know the one. 22 pages in 2 days and guess what? I got a 9! a 9! what that means is either: I work really well under pressure, OR, that if I got my shit together, man, I'd be brilliant. hmmmmm.
also, the list of MA courses is up and for once there were so many I really liked, and I applied to get on three of them, 1) The Vernacular and Identity: Ralph Ellison and American Letters, 2) Magical Realism and 3) a course in translation studies, which is what I want to do, and what I am thus seriously considering doing my thesis on. ( even though it'll kick my ass something fierce. )
in short, I am home, and I am well. how are you?
